From Baseball Spring Training to Lipizzan Stallions..
There's so many different interesting and fun things to do in the Sarasota area that we can't put them all in categories. This list represents interesting things that are unique or individual enough that there aren't enough of them for their own category.
It you're a baseball fan, this is the place to be in the Spring for Cincinnati Reds Spring Training just a few minutes away. During the regular season, take a beach break, and take in a Major League Baseball Devil Rays game. Or, say that you're interested in exotic horses, see the world famous Lipizzan Stallions perform while on their annual Florida tour in the Spring. Of course, if you just want to unwind at a local movie theatre and watch one of Hollywood's latest, you have your choice of several nearby multi-plex Sarasota movie theaters. One things for sure, whatever your interest and inclination, it's bound to be nearby!

Ed Smith Stadium is a 53-acre site that maintains a national reputation as a premier baseball facility in the State of Florida and continues to be the mecca of baseball activity in the Sarasota area. Herrmann's Royal Lipizzan Ranch 26 miles (40 minutes)

Myakka City, Florida, is where the Royal Lipizzan Stallions are located from January through March. See the most rare and aristocratic horses in the world. The highly schooled animals exhibit complex maneuvers, leaps and plunges derived from defensive horsemanship created for war that pre-date the birth of Christ by some 400 years. These famous horses are trained at Colonel Herrman's Ranch in Manatee County. Visitors are welcome at the 1 1/2 hour training sessions, Thursday and Friday at 3pm and Saturday at 10am.
